EQUINE POTOMOVAC® + IMRAB®
Rabies Vaccine, Killed Virus
Ehrlichia Risticii Bacterin
PHF-Rabies

Combination vaccines stimulate immunity for more than one disease, and give your veterinarian the opportunity to minimize the number of vaccinations required by your horse. EQUINE POTOMOVAC + IMRAB provides that dual protection against two potentially fatal diseases.

Potomac Horse Fever (PHV) is a serious illness caused a bacteria carried by aquatic insects. It tends to be more prevalent in certain geographic areas, often near rivers or water. Horses become infected when they eat or drink anything contaminated with the carrier insects. Once inside the horse, the Ehrlichia risticii bacteria multiples in the intestinal tract, causing inflammation and colitis. Clinical signs include:

  • Fever
  • Depression
  • Loss of appetite
  • Diarrhea

Rabies is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system and can infect all warm-blooded animals, including horses. The disease is also zoonotic, which means it can be transmitted to humans. Early signs are rare, and many people may be exposed to a rabid horse before diagnosis. Clinical signs vary, but can include:

  • Abnormal behavior
  • Weakness of hindquarters
  • Lameness
  • Paralysis
  • Colic

Horses usually die within a week of the first clinical signs of rabies.1
