SUROLAN® Drops
(miconazole nitrate, polymyxin B, prednisolone acetate)
Dogs and cats can be prone to a variety of skin and ear infections. These infections can be allergic, fungal, or bacterial, and reveal themselves in a number of ways.
- Acute Moist Dermatitis - moist inflamed lesions most commonly seen on the hind areas including the legs, neck and ears
- Pododermatitis (interdigital pyoderma) – paws are red, swollen and may have raised lesions
- Superficial Folliculitis/Dermatitis – a bacterial skin infection that can occur everywhere on the body, and appears as crusty scabs or lesions and areas of hair loss
- Malassezia – a secondary condition to allergic skin diseases that is characterized by greasy, waxy, scaly lesions that have a yeasty smell
- Skin Fold Dermatitis – this condition is caused by two skin surfaces rubbing together, and outbreaks are more frequent during warm, humid summer weather. It is characterized by an unpleasant smell, and can be exaggerated by the presence of moisture from tears, saliva or urine. This type of dermatitis typically affects the lip, face, tail and vulvar folds in the skin.
- Dermatophytosis (Ringworm) – this fungal infection of the nails, hair and superficial layers of the skin. As a zoonotic disease, it can be transmitted to you and your family through contact with your pet or from infectious spores. Less common in dogs, it appears as expanding areas of hairless patches of scaly, crusty skin. It commonly reveals itself in cats as circular hairless patches
- Otitis Externa – an acute or chronic inflammation of the external ear canal that can be caused by parasites or foreign bodies, along with the presence of bacteria, yeasts, and other otitis media in the ear.
